My name is Nessie and this is my portfolio.
I was born nearby Paris just a few days before the Bicentennial of the French Revolution celebration, I am a self-taught polyglot and my favourite colour is purple.
I have always been surrounded by music as television broadcasted a lot of music videos, radio had never been more eclectic, and my parents were really into hip-hop, rap, R&B, Brit Rock, pop, dance, chanson française, as well as traditional Cape Verdean music, where my family is from. But it was grunge and metal that really got me going as a child. That interest turned into a passion and I started to write for music blogs after graduating from high school.
I have also worked as a freelance music journalist for seven years, before quitting and focusing more into photography, first in my native hometown of Paris, then in Brighton since 2016.
Freaks & Gigs Photographie started in 2014 when I first dabbled into concert photography after having had a great experience at summer festivals. For me, it is the perfect outlet to make people see the world the way I do, which is not always easy when you are on the spectrum.
Since 2015, I have been extremely lucky to have covered multiple festivals such as Desertfest London, Desertfest Belgium, Rock En Seine, Arctangent, Entombed Festival, Wotsit Called Fest, Bad Pond Festival, 2-3-4 Festival and many more all-dayers and concerts in Brighton, London and the South East for myself or on the behalf of The Sleeping Shaman.
